On the banks of the lake, an evening dedicated to a product created by “Premiata Distilleria Liquori G. Fabbri”, now “Fabbri 1905”, and featuring Nicola Fabbri himself.
On 19 May, an evening event is to be dedicated to the best in international mixology. The event will begin at 18:00 at the Sky Bar in Stresa and will continue lakeside at the Estremadura Café in Suna Verbania beginning at 21:30.
This is to be the next stop on the tour dedicated to MARENDRY, one of Fabbri 1905’s last new liqueurs produced up until the 1970s, which has been brought back to offer bartenders of the world an authentically Italian, endlessly pleasing bitter, an intriguing mix of Amarena cherry and liqueur, but with a fresh, modern flavour given by the delicate aroma of Mediterranean citrus and traditional Ligurian chinotto and moderate alcohol content (at 21% ABV).
The storyteller of Fabbri’s return to the seventies will be Nicola Fabbri himself, great-grandson of the company’s founder, Gennaro Fabbri, traveling from place to place on an unconventional sort of family tour, evoking at once both a vintage and a contemporary feel, as this leading figure from Italian business pays homage to the brightest stars of mixology and to their most loyal fans.
On the enchanting banks of Lake Maggiore, Cinzia Ferro, the award-winning mixologists, will be on hand, wearing the “MARENDRY-red” bowtie, to tell the tale of this bitter through her own creations. This will not be the first time Cinzia has reinterpreted a Fabbri product. Just last year, she was named the first Lady Amarena, winning the competition open exclusively to female mixologists. In fact, in addition to MARENDRY, Cinzia and her team will also be using Amarena Fabbri in a range of new cocktails for all to enjoy.
“For me, it was a bit like taking part in a page out of the history of mixology,” said an enthusiastic Cinzia Ferro, the heart and soul of Verbania’s Estremadura Café. “Being a part of the rebirth of Fabbri liqueurs is an honour. It’s certain to be an evening full of surprises and great drinks! MARENDRY is sure to amaze with the flavour of Amarena cherries and the bitter notes hidden within this liquer before it explodes in an irresistible fruitiness.”
“We’ve answered a natural question that was being asked by many of our bartender friends around the world, who already love our Amarena and our syrups and other fruit products for cocktails,” said Nicola Fabbri. “Now, we’ll be taking MARENDRY to them to tell them a bit about it and about the history of our family and of our nation.”
Like a journey backwards in time, but with a trendy, modern twist, the event will be previewed one day earlier, Thursday, 18 May, at Ristorante Piccolo Lago in Mergozzo, where, as part of a series of evenings dedicated to freshwater fish, MARENDRY will be the featured aperitif. The MARENDRY tour will then take flight to other nations, with Nicola Fabbri and his Amarena bitter also scheduled to make appearances in Barcelona, London, Cyprus and Copenhagen.
