Bologna, May 2018 – Woman bartenders around the world are getting ready for the 2018 edition of the Lady Amarena competition, which kicks off on 1st June.
Created in 2015 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Amarena Fabbri, this fourth edition of the competition is going international to give female bartenders around the world the opportunity to make a name for themselves by being named Lady Amarena 2018.
In an industry that is often dominated by men, Lady Amarena, a contest created by Fabbri 1905, is open only to female mixologists, who may sign up for the event on the website www.ladyamarena.it from 1st June to 16th July and then let their imaginations run wild. All participating mixologists will compete by creating and presenting a new cocktail using Fabbri Amarena, Mixybar, or Marendry Bitter. The event is open to all mixology techniques with no preference given to alcoholic or virgin recipes.
All participants will need to submit their cocktail recipes along with a photo and a presentation of the drink, and a photo gallery of all the drinks in the competition will be published on the website.
All of the Italian female bartenders will compete for a spot in the Italian final in Rimini on 24th September, with the eight best cocktails to be selected by a panel of mixology experts. Parallel online voting will also give the three recipes attracting the most votes extra points in the final ranking.
These eight finalists will be joined by the female bartender who earned the most points at the 2017 national AIBES competition and the one with the most points at the 2018 edition of the Quinta Essentiae Competition organised by Planet One, for a total of ten finalists. One of these ten mixologists will be named Italy’s Lady Amarena for 2018.
International mixologists will compete for the grand finale on 25th September, also in Rimini. The contest’s jury will be selecting the seven best original recipes, prepared in accordance with the same rules as for the Italian participants, and their creators will be invited to Rimini for the international final.
These seven participants will be competing against three other mixologists: Lady Amarena Italy, selected the day before; Lady Amarena China and Lady Amarena Singapore, the winners selected by way of their respective national competitions.
It will be these ten international finalists who compete for the coveted, hand-chiselled shaker, which has served as the Lady Amarena trophy for the last four years. The winner will also receive a gift certificate worth EUR 2,500 to be spent on mixology equipment and will become a Fabbri brand ambassador for all of 2019.
